    To promote commuter and recreational bicycling and walking throughout the City.

Membership Composition:
Members are appointed by City Council and are citizens of the city. The commission shall serve in an advisory capacity to the council with respect to infrastructure improvements, advocacy and implementation of policies to encourage safe use of biking and pedestrian trails. The board elects a chair who shall serve at the pleasure of the membership.

    This Commission advises the director of Human Services and addresses issues pertaining to the elderly.

Commission For Persons With Disabilities   more
    This Commission advises the director of Human Services and assists persons with disabilities in achieving more independent and full lives by promoting awareness of needs and coordinating with relevant organizations.

Membership Composition:
Members are citizens of the city and appointed by City Council. Membership is selected to include a majority of persons who are either disabled or come from the immediate family of a person with a disability. Membership should also reflect other organizations for people with disabilities as well as representatives of the building industry, business, educational institutions, employment training and placement services, and relevant sectors of the medical establishment. A chair is to be elected by the membership, and the commission holds meetings bimonthly or at the call of the chair. Members serve for three-year terms.

    This Commission advises the Director of Public Works on matters affecting the quality of the local environment.

Membership Composition:
Members are appointed by City Council and are citizens of the city. They include representatives selected from the following major segments of the city: citizen interest, business and industry, professions, communications, schools, armed forces, and community organizations. Ex officio members with no voting authority shall be appointed from the municipal operations staff representing the director of public works, the superintendent of waste management, the director of public health, the environmental services manager, and the stormwater engineer. Erosion Advisory Commission/Wetlands Board   more
Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties of this commission include determining the erosion problems of city beaches and erosion control projects, assessing program implementation, and strategizing to counteract those problems. It then assesses the program implementation and effectiveness.

Membership Composition:
These members are appointed by City Council, and serve for terms of five years. A chair is elected and serves a term of one year with the possibility of self-succession.

Health Services Advisory Commission   more
    This Commission advises the Director of Public Health on matters relative to public health in the city.

Membership Composition:
The membership, appointed by the council, includes representatives from the following: health care providers, recipients of health department services, state and local agencies with programs operated in conjunction with the health department, and the public at large. No more than two elected officials may serve on the board. Members serve in staggered three-year terms. The board also elects a chair. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the local health director to attend the meetings of the board, provide information concerning the operation of the local health department, and participate with the board in preparation and review of the comprehensive plan for the development, coordination, and evaluation of local health services systems.
