THE CHRYSLER MUSEUM BOARD OF TRUSTEES
DESCRIPTION
As the governing body of the Chrysler Museum,
the board of trustees bears the general responsibility for managing
and controlling the business and property of the Museum. It is responsible
for the policies of the Museum and appoints the Museum Director.
The annual meeting is held on the third Thursday of June every year.
Other stated meetings may be held on the fourth Thursday of each
month except June, July, and August, at 4 p.m. Committees are to
be set up to address the museums issues. Such committees include
the Executive Committee, the Collections Committee, the Investment
Committee, the Membership and Development committee, Officer Nominating
Committee, Education committee, Trustee Nominating Committee, etc.

STIPULATIONS
Of these trustees, the City Council of Norfolk
appoints 15. 2 are to be elected by the Board of the Norfolk Society
of Arts. Trustees serve office in staggered terms. There is a term
limit of two four-year terms. The Board elects a President, two
Vice-Presidents, a Secretary, and a Treasurer.

COMMUNITY PROMOTION CORPORATION

NORFOLK CONVENTION AND VISITOR’S BUREAU
DESCRIPTION
The board operates a non-profit convention and visitors promotion business to improve economic vitality of the City of Norfolk. It promotes and encourages growth in the visitor industry through interaction between the corporations and various public and private individuals and organizations. It also seeks to promote the use of City and privately-owned convention and entertainment facilities and attractions in the community. A chair, vice-chair, and secretary and any other offices deemed necessary oversee the board. Directors serve for 1 year, and have no limit on terms

STIPULATIONS
The bureau’s directors are as follows: 2 from the local hotel industry, 2 representatives of restaurants in Norfolk, 2 representatives of retail business in Norfolk, 2 representatives of the airline/airport industry, 2 representatives of the ground transportation industry, 5 representatives of corporate businesses in the city, 1 representative of the Norfolk division of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce who shall be the chair, 1 representative of the military who shall be the Rear Admiral or Commander of the Naval Base or a retired U.S. Navy Flag Officer, 1 representative who shall be an executive director, general manager, or assistant general manager of a port related industry, 4 representatives of philanthropic organizations, 1 representative who will be the owner of a travel agency, 1 representative of the cruise line industry, 5 representatives who shall be persons with an interest in conventions and tourism for the city, the City Manager of Norfolk, the Executive Director of Festevents, the chair of the Convention Center Oversight Committee, the Dean of the school of business at Norfolk State University (if not available, the dean from ODU or Virginia Wesleyan), 1 representative of public education, and 1 member of council who is the mayor.

NORFOLK DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE
DESCRIPTION
The committee acts in an advisory capacity to
the city Planning Commission. Matters that are included in the committees
reports are new public buildings, including both site and architectural
plans; private multifamily and nonresidential buildings funded in
whole or in part by the city or an agency; facades, awnings, canopies,
landscaping, statues, monuments, buildings or structures within
any historic and cultural conservation zoning district; designs
for public streets, parks, etc. It advises the City Planning Commission
on standards, plans, and projects submitted for review. The committee
presents its requests in writing within thirty days of the applicants
filing of the request. They meet the second and fourth Monday of
the month at 4 p.m.

STIPULATIONS
Members are appointed by City Council. Of the
seven, two must be architects, one an artist or member of the faculty
of a fine arts division of a local college or university, one must
be a resident of a historic and cultural conservation district,
one must be a professional engineer, one a person engaged in a business
or professional enterprise in the city, and one must be a person
with talent and interest in landscape design. Terms of office are
for three years. The committee elects its own chair, vice-chair,
and any other officers deemed appropriate.

HAMPTON ROADS REGIONAL JAIL AUTHORITY
DESCRIPTION
This Authority has the power to construct, equip,
maintain, and operate the Hampton Roads Regional Jail, an approximately
875-bed jail. The board meets quarterly.

NORFOLK INTERAGENCY CONSORTIUM
DESCRIPTION
The duties of this consortium include managing
the cooperative effort of the city to better serve the needs of
troubled and at-risk youth and their families. It works to improve
employment, job skills, education, and achievement. It seeks to
develop policies for the agencies of the city to provide for underprivileged
families and children. It coordinates long-term, community-wide
planning to help the development of resources and services needed
by at-risk youth and families. It reports on its actions to the
State, serving as the Citys liaison to the State management
team. The Consortium meets on the second Wednesday of the month
at 4 p.m.

MEDICAL COLLEGE OF HAMPTON ROADS
(EASTERN VIRGINIA MEDICAL AUTHORITY)
DESCRIPTION
This board oversees the operation of the Medical
College. It has the right to confer honorary degrees, and meets
at least six times per year. It makes such by-laws, rules, and regulations
as it deems appropriate for the college. It may identify, document,
and evaluate needs, problems, and resources relating to health and
medical care, and may plan, develop, and implement program. Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 4:30 p.m.
