The General Prosecution Team prosecutes felony property crimes, weapons offenses, and misdemeanor appeals from the district courts. This team also reviews requests regarding: extradition and detainer agreement matters, Habitual Offender Determinations and Restoration Requests.
Since beginning our involvement in stalking cases in the General District Court, we have prosecuted nearly 100 cases. Previously, victims were left to handle these matters on their own.
A project is now underway in which a paralegal with our office is reviewing persons convicted of misdemeanors in the General District Court to identify those who were on probation at the time of their offense. Those persons so identified will be brought back before the judge to have their probation revoked and suspended sentence imposed. We firmly believe that this effort to hold repeat misdemeanor offenders accountable will help reduce the rate of more serious crime.
