Norfolk General District Courts

Civil Court

Types of Cases

    The Norfolk General District Court, Civil Division handles cases involving monetary claims up to $15,000 and claims for recovery of personal property.  Examples of civil cases are landlord and tenant disputes, contract disputes and personal injury claims.   If your civil suit is for $2000.00 or less, you may be able to file your case under the Small Claims Court.


 

Location

    There are two (2) civil/small claims courts, Courtroom #3 and Courtroom #4.  Both courts are located on the first (1st) floor. 

    The clerk’s office for Courtroom #3 is located on the back hall in Room 183.  The clerk’s office for Courtroom #4 is located in Room 167 in the front hall to your left after you come thru the metal detector.
