Members of Norfolk Fire-Rescue have served, or are serving, in every branch of the armed services. We consider the military to be a valued resource of knowledge, experience, and maturity. Making the transition from military uniform to Firefighter
uniform is an easy one since the department is a quasi military organization. Former military members are familiar with things like chain of command and teamwork, all of which are prevalent in Norfolk Fire-Rescue.
We actively recruit members who are transitioning out of military service.
We are at the Transition Assistance Program located at Norfolk Naval Base every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 to 1:30. Please stop by and speak with one of our Recruitment Team members.
