Application Screening Process

 

Written Test - Designed to measure reading comprehension necessary to successfully complete required employment and certification.

Physical Agility Test - Events designed to simulate typical work related situations which require the ability to perform specific physical activities.

B-PAD - (Behavioral Personnel Assessment Devices) is a video-based test designed to assess candidate responses to scenarios depicting realistic, problematic situations typically encountered by personnel occupying the Public Safety position for which the candidate has applied. Candidates are not required to know or demonstrate knowledge of technical/procedural aspects of the position for which they are being tested.

Polygraph Examination - This examination is used to verify the background data in the Personal History Application form. Deception noted in the areas of automatic disqualifies may prevent further processing.

Background Investigations- Entails obtaining and verifying information in regards to prior employment, drug use, personal references, criminal records, Division of Motor Vehicle records, and credit records.

Post-Job Offer Screening Process

Firefighter/Shock Trauma applicants must successfully complete the following steps:

  1. Drug Screening
  2. Medical Examination
  3. Psychological Examination
  4. Candidates will be required to sign an acknowledgment that it is a condition of their initial and continued employment that they refrain from any on-duty or off-duty use of tobacco products.
