"Do-It-Yourself" Workshop

The Norfolk Federation of Civic Leagues is joining with the Home Rehabilitation Initiative (HRRI), Bureau of Community Outreach, to sponsor a workshop for those wanting to make their home more energy efficient.  The workshop will feature a presentation by a representative from Lowe’s on “weatherizing on a shoestring,” followed by the STOP Organization, local recipient of  stimulus funds that focus on energy efficiency, with information about the availability of stimulus funds for homeowners. Applications for weatherization services through STOP will be available.

The second “Fix-It” Trade Show will feature a number of exhibitors representing an array of public and private interests - all sharing information about how to improve our community one home at a time with do-it-yourself home maintenance ideas, including making our homes more “green,” the network of community resources available through HRRI, and much more.

Virginia Natural Gas is partnering with the Bureau of Community Outreach, Home Rehabilitation and Resource Initiative, to offer advice to help homeowners cut their energy costs and live more comfortably.  Not only will this workshop give several easy and inexpensive tips on bringing down your bill, but you will learn about the VNG programs that can enable you to tap into federal stimulus funds for energy conservation.

This workshop, to be presented by a representative from Home Depot, will take the mystery out of many home maintenance issues and help homeowners save money too!
