Warrant Unit
The Warrant Unit consists of one sergeant, one corporal, four permanent officers, two
support technicians, and temporary officers, when manpower permits. Warrants are entered into local, state,
and federal databases. Automated "Warrant Notification Letters” are sent to notify individuals by mail that
there are outstanding warrants for them, allowing them the opportunity to turn themselves in. Those who do
not comply are aggressively pursued until they are located and taken into custody.
The Warrant Unit is responsible for processing felony and misdemeanor warrants, Circuit Court
indictments, PB15 parole/probation violation papers, capiases, magistrate summonses, and other legal documents,
issued by courts or magistrates.
The Warrant Unit processes and supports the service of an average of 7500 warrants annually,
6600 of which are misdemeanor warrants and 900 of which are felony warrants. The unit frequently assists and works
in conjunction with, members of the FBI, ICE, and the U. S. Marshal's Service, along with other federal, state, and
local agencies.
