A meeting of the Norfolk Board of Zoning Appeals will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2007, in the City Council Chamber, 11th Floor, City Hall Building , Norfolk , Virginia to consider the following applications:

STEVEN SELF, for a variance from the regulations of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Norfolk , 1992, as amended, to improve a nonconforming structure in violation of Section 12-3; premises numbered 1412 40TH Street and zoned R-8 (One-Family) and located in the (IRIO) Institutional Residential Impact Overlay District.  Withdrawn

 

  1. A & I FAMILY DESIGNS, LLC, for a variance from the regulations of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Norfolk, 1992, as amended, to permit a nonconforming structure to be restored in violation of Section 12-3; premises numbered 701 W. 29th Street and zoned R-11 (Moderate Density Multiple-Family) and located in the (PPROD) Park Place Residential Overlay District.  Continued

 

  1. MELVIN & SUZANNE HALLMAN, for an appeal from a Zoning Violation Notice or a variance from the regulations of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Norfolk, 1992, as amended, to permit a six foot solid fence to remain in the required corner side yard in violation of Section 13-6.3; premises numbered 2501 Dominion Avenue and zoned R-6 (One-Family).  Continued

  1. JTH TAX, INC., for an appeal from the decision of the Zoning Administrator regarding the definition of a sign in violation of Chapter 2 of the Zoning ordinance; premises numbered 7931 Shore Drive, and  zoned C-2 (Corridor Commercial).  Continued

 

  1. STEVEN BISHARD, for a variance from the regulations of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Norfolk, 1992, as amended, to allow a reduction in the front yard in violation of Sections 4-8.5 and Table 4-A; premises located in the 2500 blk of McKann Avenue, lots 26, 28, 30 & 32, and zoned R-8 (One-Family).  Approved

 

  1. BRUCE CAMERON MACKIE, for a variance from the regulations of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Norfolk, 1992, as amended, to allow mechanical equipment to be located in a side yard in violation of Section 4-0.9 (d); premises numbered 621 Massachusetts Avenue and zoned R-8 (One-Family).  Denied

 

  1. PAUL & MIA ROBINSON, for a variance from the regulations of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Norfolk, 1992, as amended, to permit an addition without complying with the finished floor elevation requirements in violation of Section 11-3.16 and a second addition in the side yard in violation of Section 4-4.5 and Table 4A; premises numbered 1320 Windsor Point Road and zoned R-4 (One-Family).  Approved (side yard setback only)  Denied (rear addition floor elevation)

 

  1. KEITH NICHOLS, for a variance from the regulations of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Norfolk, 1992, as amended, to permit the creation  of two residential lots without complying with minimum lot area in violation of Sections 4-8.3; premises numbered 1521-1539 Dungee Street, zoned R-8 (One-Family) and located in the (RCO) Residential Compatibility Overlay District.  Approved
