Emergency Repair Grant

   

DESCRIPTION/OVERVIEW:  The Emergency Repair Grant Program is designed to assist eligible residents with the correction of code violations that directly affect one’s health and safety. The grant can also be used to assist physically challenged homeowners with basic accessibility property improvements.  Upon eligibility verification, NRHA representatives will perform a property inspection and carry out work specifications and subcontracting.  Upon job completion, NRHA inspects the work and pays the contractor.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:  Applicants must verify legal ownership and one-year minimum occupancy of the property, with no back taxes or mortgage payments.  An applicant’s family income must fall within HUD low/moderate income limits.  Liquid assets cannot exceed $12,000.

FUNDING:  The maximum assistance available is $10,000. The grant bears no repayment obligation.
