Norfolk's Neighborhoods
Westside, Eastside,
Downtown, Uptown. No matter in which section of the city you live,
you are assured one thing with a Norfolk address: a great neighborhood! Within its 66 square miles, Norfolk
boasts 120 of them, each with a distinctly different style.
If true urban living is for you, there are the new Downtown
townhouses, waterfront condominiums and loft spaces perched atop
restaurants and shops. Growing families may want to sprawl among the
spacious Westside homes. Like to be in the thick of it?
There’s Midtown and Central Norfolk, with easy
access to shopping and recreation. Southside Norfolk has
affordable appeal and a variety of homes. Uptown is ideal for
first-time homebuyers. And Ocean View, well, has the views
– plus exciting new developments that are shaping up along the
Chesapeake Bay.
Historically, Norfolk
has been known for the quality of its neighborhoods and recognizes
that every resident should have an opportunity to live in safe,
clean housing. The City is dedicated to maintaining and preserving
its communities – while developing new ones to serve the
region’s growing needs. It would all be fruitless, though, without
the community’s involvement. That’s why the City gives every
resident the chance to be a true stakeholder in the neighborhood,
whether it’s through civic league involvement or through the
building a neighborhood plan.
