The
Office of Health Promotion supports the Public Health
Department mission by seeking to improve the health and wellness
of Norfolk citizens through the promotion of healthy behavior,
and community outreach services. Health Promotion serve as
a resource center offering a variety of educational material,
promotes healthy lifestyles and coordinates community health
outreach activities of the department. Health Promotion provide
health education materials, educational videos, brochures,
exhibits and support materials for the department and consultation
to the
community.

Cardiovascular Risk Reduction
A community program to reduce heart disease and stroke. The
main focus of the program is on controllable risk factors
such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking, diet and
weight.
Blood Pressure Screening and Counseling
These education services are available on an individual or
group basis throughout the community.
The program offers:
- Blood Pressure and Cholesterol Screenings
- Counseling
- Education
- Nutrition Classes

Minority AIDS Program
This program is designed to provide information, referral
and education in high risk neighborhoods of Norfolk in cooperation
with a minority vendor.

Volunteer Services
When you volunteer at the Norfolk Department of Public Health
you can increase health services to the residents of Norfolk
and support the volunteer community. You can develop new job
skills, gain career experience, build, transfer or renew job
skills and complete special internships. Volunteering can
