Request a Special Collection

Special collection refers to the removal of large bulky items and other items that will not fit in the container including appliances, furniture, mattresses, limited quantities of excess yard waste, limited quantities of construction debris, overflow garbage, and moving boxes, etc. from move-ins.

These items are collected upon request by a separate truck on your regular collection day.  Large collections may require removal at a minimum rate of $75 up to a maximum rate of $15 per cubic yard.

Up to 12 special collections per year are permitted.

Waste Management may hire a private contractor to assist with the collection and disposal of excessive amounts of debris, yard waste or contractor produced waste.  The fee, as determined by City Code, will be billed to the owner/tenant.

If you meet the above requirements, please click on the link below:

Special Collection pickups will not be provided for the following:

  • Trees or limbs in excess of 6 inches in diameter.

  • Excessive construction debris - only the equivalent of one 90-gallon container will be collected resulting from the construction, repair, erection, movement, or demolition of a building.

  • Move-Ins, Evictions, and Move-outs  - this is a limited special collection. Large collections will result in a minimum fee of $75 up to a maximum fee of $15 per cubic yard.

  • Tires more than 4 per month will not be collected.

  • Hazardous waste is the customer's responsibility to store and dispose of in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. Contact SPSA at 623-6610 for further information.

  • Dangerous waste outside of the container such as glass or sharp objects will not be collected unless packaged properly.  These items may cause a hazard to our residents and employees if glass is broken by our boom truck during the pickup.  Please place the items inside the 90-gallon container or in a box outside the container.  All glass must be removed from doors or windows that are scheduled for collection.

  • Waste from land-clearing operations such as rocks, dirt, sand, bricks, and concrete will not be collected.

  • Debris such as shingles, asbestos, and drywall from remodeling will not be collected.

  • Automotive bodies, engines, and transmissions should be taken to a junk yard or auto parts dealer for disposal.
  • Oil drums and propane tanks - residents should call a local oil company or salvage company for assistance.
