Downtown Closures
Brambleton Avenue
This is a reminder that work is
continuing on the Brambleton Avenue Bridge. Through mid May, as the
median is reconstructed, the median lanes in each direction will be
closed, but the curb lane and the middle lane of both the eastbound
and westbound side of the bridge will be open. The curb lane is the
lane of traffic adjacent to the sidewalk area. This traffic pattern
will be in place for one month.
Beginning Friday, April 25,
there will be intermittent, full, and partial lane closures at the
intersection of East Brambleton Avenue and Church Street. The lane
closures are necessary for Verizon to perform cable repair work from
6 p.m. on Friday, April 25 through mid May.
Bute Street
Through July 2009, watch for
closure of West Bute Street next to the Granby Tower construction
site between Granby Street and the property line.
West Bute Street
Through August 3, watch for
closure of one half block on West Bute Street between Yarmouth
Street and Duke Street due to utility work.
New Road Closures
On Monday, May 12 two median
lanes heading west toward the Campostella Bridge will be closed from
9 am to 3 pm daily due to utility work.
Brown Avenue
Through May 30, watch for
closure of Brown Avenue between Reservoir Avenue and Park Avenue.
Cornick Road
Through May 17, watch for
street closure to through traffic on Cornick Road between Military
Highway and Dure Road due to utility work.
East Brambleton Avenue
Through June 13, watch for
closure of the inside eastbound lane of East Brambleton Avenue
between Reservoir Avenue and ending before interstate 264 ramp. A
second lane of east bound East Brambleton Avenue will be closed from
6:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. One of two left turn
lanes of southbound Park Avenue will be closed at the intersection
of Park Avenue and East Brambleton Avenue.
East Little Creek Road
Through May 22, watch for
alternating eastbound lane closures due to roadway repairs.
Hampton Boulevard
Through May 30, watch for
closure of the southbound right lane on Hampton Boulevard between
Terminal Boulevard and Cloncurry Road due to utility work.
Through June 13, watch for
closure of the outside lane on Hampton Boulevard between D Avenue
and Northgate Road due to utility work.
Kempsville Road
Through June 12, watch for
closure of the outside lane on Kempsville Road between North Center
Drive and the Interstate Underpass.
Northampton Boulevard
Through May 22, watch for
closure of the inside eastbound and westbound lanes on Northampton
Boulevard between Culvert and I-64 ramp, east of Military Highway
due to utility work.
Southampton Avenue
Through May 20, watch for
westbound lane closures on Southampton Avenue between Colley Avenue
and Riverview Avenue.
Tidewater Drive
Beginning May 12, Tidewater
Drive between Lindenwood Avenue and Pope Street will be reduced to
one lane in each direction. This pattern will last 12 weeks.
Through May 24, watch for
alternating southbound lane closures on Tidewater Drive between
Olney Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard due to roadway work.
West Ocean View Avenue
Through June 27, watch for
alternating eastbound and westbound lane closures on West Ocean View
Avenue between Mason Creek Road and 1st View Street due to utility
work.

25th Street
Through May 12, watch for
alternating lane closures on 25th Street between Elkhorn Avenue and
Bluestone Avenue due to streetscape improvements.
35th Street
Through July 5, watch for the
closure of West 35th Street from one block west of Killam Avenue to
Colley Avenue due to utility work.
36th Street
Through July 5, watch for
closure of West 36th Street from the west dead end to Colley Avenue.
37th Street
Through July 5, watch for
street closure on 37th Street between Killam Avenue and Colley
Avenue Monday through Friday between 7 am to 5 pm due to utility

Admiral Taussig Boulevard
Through June 1, watch for
closure of Mall Drive between Admiral Taussig Boulevard and Seabee
Avenue. The westbound left turn lane and the eastbound right turn
lane on Admiral Taussig Boulevard at Mall Road will be closed.
Barnhollow Road
Through August 3, watch for
street closure on Barnhollow Road from Poplar Hall Drive to Duck
Pond Lane due to utility work.
Barre Street
Through December 8, watch for
closure of Barre Street to through traffic from Galt Street to C
Avenue. A lane of traffic will remain open at all times for city
emergency and resident access.
Bluestone Avenue
Through May 12, watch for
alternating lane closures on Bluestone Avenue between 37th Street
and 25th Street due to streetscape improvements.
Through February 2009, watch
for street closure on Bluestone Avenue between Melrose Parkway and
W.49th Street.
Brambleton Avenue
Beginning Monday, April 21, the
two westbound curb lanes on Brambleton Avenue heading toward the
Campostella area will be closed, starting at Marshall Avenue and
continuing just past Park Avenue. In addition, one left turn at the
corner of Park Avenue and Brambleton Avenue will be closed during
that time. Crews will work from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily to
install a new water line and relocate additional utilities for the
upcoming light rail construction. One lane will remain closed
overnight.
Burleigh Avenue
Through May 31, watch for
closure of Burleigh Avenue between Newport Avenue and Cedar Level
Avenue due to utility work.
Brown Avenue
Through May 30, watch for
street closure to through traffic on Brown Street between Reservior
Avenue and Park Avenue due to utility work.
C Avenue
Through August 15, watch for
street closure to through traffic on C Avenue from Barre Street to
OKeefe Street. This closure will be in effect Monday through Friday
from 7:30 am to 5 am.
Carroll Place
Through May 15, watch for
street closure to through traffic on Carroll Place between Jamestown
Crescent and Larchmont Crescent.
Cedar Level Avenue
Through June 30, watch for
closure of Cedar Level Avenue between Burleigh Avenue and North
Shore Road due to utility work.

street closure to through traffic on Warren Crescent from Pembroke
Avenue to Colonial Avenue due to utility work.
West Belvedere Road
Through June 16, watch for
closure of the westbound lane on West Belvedere Road at the
intersection of Granby Street to the end of the median shifting
westbound traffic into one lane of eastbound West Belvedere due to
utility work.
