Passenger Rail Station

Project Description: This project will construct a 3,500 square foot station for intercity passenger rail. The building will have a ticket counter, a waiting room and toilet facilities. The platform will be 725 feet long and partially covered with canopies. The train service will be provided by Amtrak on rail line in Norfolk belonging to Norfolk Southern. The train will have an engine and 7 passenger cars. Norfolk Southern is making improvements to the tracks and building the passenger platform. The station will be close to the Harbor Park light rail station. Hampton Roads Transit will provide connecting bus service as well. Additionally, private taxis and shuttles will be available in the parking lot.
