Event Equipment & Logistics more
The Special Events unit provides logistical support for many City-wide events and rents equipment such as tents, tables, chairs and the City's Showmobile to the public. The unit operates seasonally — April 1 to October 31 of each year. Events outside of this time frame (November 1 to March 31) will be evaluated case-by-case for feasibility. The unit does not operate on Sundays, except under special circumstances.

Requests for renting equipment are accepted January 1 to October 1, and are booked on a first come, first served basis. City of Norfolk events take first priority. All rental requests must be submitted at least 30 days in advance of the event date. Applicant must provide a completed Rental Request Form by fax to 757-441-1216. Please note that response time to faxes, phone calls and/or e-mails may be up to 48 hours when staff is out in the field.

The Special Events unit will provide support at City of Norfolk events—pending availability and 30 days’ notice of the event—at no charge. Fees will not be waived for equipment rental for any other organizations.

Payment is due at least two weeks in advance of the event. Make checks payable to Special Events and mail or deliver to 2800 Tarrant Ave., Norfolk, VA 23509.
