Concealed Handgun Permits

·        Applications for concealed handgun permits can be obtained in the Norfolk Circuit Court Clerk’s Office or downloaded here (concealed weapon application).

 ·        Please use a typewriter (or print in black ink) and complete the application in full.

 ·        Proof of Competency is required.

 ·        You must apply in the city/county where you reside.

 ·        Bring the completed application to the Norfolk Circuit Clerk’s Office along with the $45.00 fee.

 ·        There will be NO REFUNDS.

 ·        The Application for Concealed Handgun Permit, must then be taken, in person, to the Central Records Division of the Norfolk Police Department, Police Operations Center, 3661 E. Virginia Beach Boulevard, Norfolk Virginia (664-7012) between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm.  Two forms of identification are required.

 ·        Allow approximately twenty-one (21) days for your permit to be processed by the Police Department and for them to return their findings to the Norfolk Circuit Court.  You will then be notified  (at the phone number on your application) that your permit is ready to be picked up.  If your permit is denied, you will be notified by mail.

 ·        The total amount of time for your permit to be completed is approximately forty-five (45) days.

 ·        You must then appear in person in the Clerk’s Office, with a picture I.D. to pick up your approved Concealed Handgun Permit.
