CEREMONIAL MATTERS

    1. President Fraim read a proclamation proclaiming August 18-24, 2002 as Fire Fighters Appreciation Week in the City of Norfolk. Acting Chief Edward Loy Senter and Firefighter Steven Connally accepted the proclamation.
    2. President Fraim read and presented a proclamation to Sheriff Robert McCabe proclaiming August 19-24, 2002 as Youth Safety Week in the City of Norfolk. He also recognized John Rogers, president of the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, and a group from the Bayview Young Ambassadors.

NEW BUSINESS

    1. William Britt, 427 Maycox Avenue, asked Council to address major problems occurring in the Little Creek Road area. These problems result from an increase in Section 8 housing moving from areas being revitalized, such as Ocean View and Park Place.
    2. Daniel Montague, 4605 Krick Street, president of Sherwood Forrest Civic League, expressed support of a one-cent tax increase for road improvements.
    3. Rodney Jordan, 304 W. 36th Street, commented that the City needs to look into creating a public policy that addresses the city as a whole.
