PH-1 PUBLIC HEARING scheduled this day pursuant to action of the Council on July 30, 2002, under the State law, public notice having been inserted in the local press by the City Clerk to hear comments on the need for a local enterprise zone development taxation program for the Broad Creek Renaissance.

There was no one present to speak concerning this matter.

Thereupon, an Ordinance entitled, "An Ordinance to designate an area in the City as the "Broad Creek Renaissance District" Development Project Area and to adopt Tax Increment Financing in this area," was introduced in writing and read by its title.

PH-1A PUBLIC HEARING scheduled this day pursuant to action of the Council on July 30, 2002, under the State law, public notice having been inserted in the local press by the City Clerk hear comments on the HUD Section 108 Loan for Roberts Village/Bowling Green Hope VI.

Thereupon, an Ordinance entitled, "An Ordinance authorizing the application and acceptance of an authorization from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development for the use of Section 108 Loan Guarantee Financing Program, with loan amount up to $13 million, to support design and construction of infrastructure improvements related to Broad Creek Renaissance/Hope VI initiative," was introduced in writing and read by its title.

NEW BUSINESS

Mary Ann Miller, 330 Beechwood Avenue, President of the Glenwood Park Civic League, advised Council of the cleanup campaign the neighborhood is undertaking and their interested in partnering with businesses in the area to work towards improvements. She asked the Mayor to issue a proclamation challenging businesses to get involved in this effort.

Lamar Brown, 831 W. 31st Street, spoke concerning cross-town busing and resegregation.

Bernard Thompson, 214 Hough Avenue, spoke concerning cross-town busing.

Edward Taylor, 2804 Victoria Avenue, asked Council to address drug activity in his neighborhood; and, in particular, a crack house located at 2744 Victoria Avenue.

Bruce Bracey, 1821 Canton Avenue, circulated a newspaper article of his daughter’s accomplishments in martial arts and requested Council’s support in helping her to travel to China and the 2004 Olympics.
