PH-1                              PUBLIC HEARING scheduled this day pursuant to action of the Council on March 9, 2004, under the State law, public notice having been inserted in the local press by the City Clerk to hear comments on the sale and conveyance of city-owned property formerly Norfolk Community Hospital to the Commonwealth of Virginia.

 

                   No one was present to speak concerning this matter.

 

                                      Thereupon, An Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance authorizing the sale of the property formerly known as Norfolk Community Hospital to the visitors of Norfolk State University for the sum of $2,200,000.00, and approving the purchase and sale agreement,” was introduced in writing and read by its title.

 

ACTION:   The Ordinance as introduced was adopted, effective April 23, 2004.

R-4                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance approving a lease agreement between 741 Monticello, LLC, Lessor and the City of Norfolk, Lessee, for certain premises known as 741 Monticello Avenue, authorizing the City Manager to execute the lease agreement on behalf of the city and authorizing the expenditure of the sum of $642,500 in rental payments for the period from September 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005, subject to appropriation of the funds,” was introduced in writing and read by its title.

 

                   The applicant, Jim Baylor, 243 W. York Street, was present on behalf of this matter.

NEW BUSINESS

 

1.      Paula Whalen, 219 West Ocean View Avenue, and Toni Mazza, 9413 Atlans Street, request that funds be allocated in  the FY-04/05 budget for  a pool for the Therapeutic Recreation.

 

2.      George Cook, 2720 Marlboro Avenue, a member of the Public Library Board, thanked Council for supporting the libraries.
