PH-1                              PUBLIC HEARING scheduled this day under the State law, public notice having been inserted in the local press by the City Clerk to receive nominations for appointment to the Norfolk School Board.

 

                   Nominations were received as follows:

 

1.      Sam Webster, 7300 Woodway Lane, nominated Wilson B. Dodson, III.

 

2.      Walter Green, 943 Philpotts Road, nominated Alveta V. Green.

                   Jack Pope, 214 44th Street, Virginia Beach, was present to answer questions.

 

                                      Thereupon, an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance amending Number 41,178 closing, vacating and discontinuing portions of Cumberland Street, SO AS TO increase the area of the portions to be vacated,” was introduced in writing and read by its title.

                   The applicant, Bobby Wright, 273 Granby Street, requested an increase in occupancy from 450 to 600.

                   La Francis Rodgers, 1011 Grayson Street, requested funding for the International Black Women’s Congress, an organization that provides services to AIDS victims, public housing residents, abused children, etc.
