ACTION OF THE COUNCIL

 

TUESDAY, APRIL 12, 2005 – 2:30 P.M.

 

The meeting began at 2:30 p.m. with the following members present:  Mr. Riddick, Mr. Winn, and Mr. Wright.  Mrs. Hester was enroute and arrived at 2:50 p.m.

 

Prayer offered by Councilman Paul R. Riddick, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

                                       Councilman Wright moved to excuse Mr. Burfoot, Mr. Williams, and Mr. Fraim for their absence from today’s meeting.

 

Motion adopted.

                   No:   None.

 

                                      Councilman Wright moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting.

 

Motion adopted.

CEREMONIAL MATTER

 

Councilman Wright read a proclamation proclaiming the month of April 2005 as KOVAR Tootsie Roll Month.  The proclamation was accepted by Ken Brinks of the Knights of Columbus.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Daniel Montague, 4605 Krick Street, commented about illegal immigrants.

                                Upon her arrival, Ms. Hester voted in the affirmative to excuse Messrs. Burfoot, Fraim, and Winn and to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting. 

 

                   Acting President Hester then asked the City Clerk to proceed with the agenda.

 

CONSENT AGENDA

 

C-1                                 Letter from the City Manager advising, in accordance with Chapter 33.1-40 of the Norfolk City Code, of sole source procurements during the month of March 2005 for the Departments of Utilities and Nauticus.
