HEARINGS
PH-1 PUBLIC HEARING scheduled
this day pursuant to action of the Council on September 27, 2005, under the
State law, public notice having been inserted in the local press by the City
Clerk on the application of Kevin Hill to
change the zoning from R-7 (One-Family) to Conditional C-2 (Corridor
Commercial) on property located at 1255 Norview Avenue.
The applicant, Kevin Hill,
1601 Keswick Drive, was present to answer questions.
Alma Kesling, 4535 Bankhead
Avenue, opposed rezoning the property.
Thereupon,
An Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance to rezone property located at 1255
Norview Avenue from R-7 (One-Family Residential) to Conditional C-2
(Corridor Commercial),” was introduced in writing and read by its title.

this day pursuant to action of the Council on September 27, 2005, under the
State law, public notice having been inserted in the local press by the City
Clerk on the application of the City Planning Commission to amend the Zoning Ordinance of the City of
Norfolk, 1992, and to change the zoning from C-1 (Limited Commercial) to C-2
(Corridor Commercial) on properties located along Lafayette
Boulevard, Somme Avenue, and Tidewater Drive.

PH-3 PUBLIC HEARING scheduled
this day pursuant to action of the Council on October 4, 2005 under State Law,
public notice having been inserted in the local press by the City Clerk on the application of Robert Copeland to amend
and reordain Table 6-5 of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Norfolk, 1992, to
permit mini-warehousing as a principal use in the C-3 (Retail Center)
Commercial District by Special Exception and to operate mini-warehousing at
7519 Tidewater Drive.
Joel
Weintraub, 109 E. Main Street, summarized the proposal.
Don
Robertson, 514 Draper Drive, president of the Oakdale Farms/Denbeigh Park Civic
League, expressed opposition, noting the area is already proliferated with
storage facilities.

15, 2005.

during the meeting, Mr. Weintraub informed Council Mr. Robertson had removed
his opposition, as he now understands the proposal. Mr.
Robertson confirmed same.

Fraim moved to rescind Council’s earlier vote to continue the matter.

NEW BUSINESS
1.
Garnzie West, 928 Widgeon
Road, expressed concern about further delay in construction of the Norview
Recreation Center, which was removed from the City Planning Commission’s
agenda.
James Wright, 6367 Glenoak Drive, was present concerning
this matter but declined to speak upon hearing the City Manager’s response.
2.
Rodney Jordan, 304 W. 36th
Street, asked Council to address crime problems in Park Place and to allow the
Park Place community to have input into the redevelopment process.
3.
Alma Kesling, 4535
Bankhead Avenue, spoke about polluting the Chesapeake Bay and asked Council to
remove a member of the Wetlands Board who is a known polluter.
4. Daniel
Montague, 4605 Krick Street, spoke concerning light rail.
