Assistance in Voting

If the voter needs assistance in voting due to blindness, a physical disability or an inability to read or write, assistance in voting may be requested. The assistant may not be the voter’s employer or agent of that employer, or an officer or an agent of the voter’s union. With the exception of blind voters, it will be necessary for the voter and the assistant to sign or make a mark on a Request for Assistance Form, and provide an address. If the voter is unable to sign or make a mark, the Officer of Election will indicate that the voter is unable to sign the Request Form. The assistant must agree to vote the ballot as the voter instructs, to make no attempt to influence the voter, and agree not to divulge how the voter voted.
