Voter Registration Information

Question: Where can I register to vote in person?
Answer: You may register to vote in person in the Office of Elections, City Hall Building, Room 808, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For additional information call (757) 664-4353.

Question: When are voter registration deadlines?
Answer: Voter registration applications are not processed during the 22 days before an election.  To be eligible to vote in an election, the Voter Registration Application form must be postmarked no later than 22 days before the election.

Question: How will I be notified?
Answer: When your application for registration is approved by the General Registrar, a Voter Card will be mailed to you.  You will be notified if you do not qualify or if the local registrar requires more information to process your application.
