Norfolk’s Municipal Internship Program is a highly popular program with a history of attracting students on a national scale. The eight-week program’s goal is to provide meaningful, curriculum-related experience in a professional work environment. Students interested in a career in public service are encouraged to apply.

The City of Norfolk will be accepting applications for participation in its 2011 Municipal Intern Program.  The online application for 2011 will be available beginning April 14, 2011 through May 20, 2011.

Selection Criteria:

  • Required: Students who have attained at least a junior-level status while currently attending a four-year college or university, as well as current graduate (Masters or Doctorate) students.  Students graduating immediately before the start of the program are also eligible.
  • We look for candidates with an interest in a public sector career and a desire to apply one’s education in a professional setting.
  • We look for a demonstration that the applicant can successfully complete complex projects, both individually and as part of a team.
