 Human Services

The Public Information and Education Unit is responsible for internal and external communications and public relations; providing information to the media and the community as well as marketing support to all program areas within the Norfolk Department of Human Services. We seek to reach out to more of our citizens in need and increase community awareness and appreciation of the many services available through the Norfolk Department of Human Services.

The Public Information and Education Unit offers or participates in the following:

  • Media interviews

  • Presentations

  • Displays

  • Speakers Bureau

  • Submissions to outside publications

  • Special events

The unit also produces “Human Services Forum,” a bi-monthly television program which can be viewed on Norfolk 's government access channel WCTY TV 48, Norfolk’s Neighborhood Network. Human Services Forum showcases social welfare issues, new agency initiatives, and celebrates community partnerships. To learn more about the show or to view the program online, visit Human Services Forum.
