City Initiatives
Employees across departments and divisions are working together to identify short and long term action plans and align spending with the priorities. The goal is to create a living, breathing document that guides every aspect of City government. Learn more about this on-going process in the Setting Priorities initiative.

The goal of the Healthy Norfolk initiative is to improve health and wellness through partnerships with a wide range of health agencies, residents, businesses, schools and City departments. Everyone will have a role - from removing physical barriers to working on neighborhood wellness plans.

Neighbors Building Neighborhoods is a community ownership philosophy aimed at creating neighborhoods of choice. Through several ground-breaking initiatives - a grant program, training and resources, NBN is at its core a partnership between the City and residents where residents determine the direction.

Impact is the effort to bring a customer-focused one-stop shop for residents to interact with the City - either for information, requests or concerns; to make this interaction more efficient, data-driven, and to ensure quality control.

Flooding is a pro-active effort to address flooding at all levels; taking action where the City can take action and seeking partnerships with State and Federal agencies to address the more complex issues.
