Through education outreach, interactive programs and community service the Norfolk Environmental Commission (NEC), Keep Norfolk Beautiful and Friends of Norfolk's Environment are growing environmental awareness. The collective efforts of these groups serve to develop a culture of environmental sustainability throughout the City of Norfolk.

Keep Norfolk Beautiful is a branch of the City of Norfolk's Public Works Department, which aids the NEC in the effort toward leading citizens to environmental stewardship and offers volunteer and community service opportunities through programs such as the
Great American Cleanup, EARNN,
Adopt-A-Spot,
Green Reader and
Clean the Bay Day.
