Mayor Paul Fraim met with key religious leaders from throughout the city during a luncheon at Freemason Street Baptist Church on July 22, 2008 The Mayor briefed the leaders on the “Faith Partnership” – the newest initiative in the city’s aggressive campaign to end homelessness.

Katie Kitchen, the city’s Director of the Office to End Homelessness, said the involvement of the faith-based community is essential to the success of Norfolk’s effort to end homelessness. During a luncheon presentation, Kitchen called on the religious leaders to join the “Faith Partnership” – Mayor Paul Fraim’s latest initiative to end homelessness in the city.

The Seaboard Building, constructed in 1900 at 235 Plume Street, will serve as the temporary home of the Kirn Memorial Library when that facility is demolished later this year to pave the way for the construction of Norfolk’s light rail system. Competitors get ready for the first annual Golds Gym/ForKids 5 K Zoo Run at Norfolk’s Virginia Zoological Park on Granby Street. The proceeds from the event will benefit the efforts of ForKids to help the children of homeless families.

Thaler McCormack is the Director of ForKids. The organization is playing a major role in Mayor Fraim initiative to end homelessness in the city within 10 years.
