ABOUT Norfolk Animal Care and Adoption Center

The Norfolk Animal Care and Adoption Center is the municipal animal shelter for the City of Norfolk, VA.  The Center accepts all stray and unwanted animals from the City of Norfolk.

We never turn away any animal in need and care for over 6,000 animals every year.  You can help reduce this number by sterilizing your animal, making sure your animal is wearing identification (rabies tag, city license and is microchipped.)  Help us reduce the number of unwanted animals by being a responsible pet owner.

Hours of Operation

The Center is open from 8am-4:30pm each day for reclaiming pets, surrendering lost and owned pets, selling pet licensing and humane trap rentals.

• Monday: Closed
• Tuesday: 11am-4:30pm
• Wednesday: 11am-4:30pm
• Thursday: 2pm-7pm
• Friday: 11am-4:30pm
• Saturday: 11am-4:30pm
• Sunday: 12pm-4:30pm
