The Bureau of Neighborhood Revitalization is committed to effectively improving the life of the citizens of Norfolk, and the preservation of their neighborhoods through the enforcement of applicable building and property regulations aimed at the protection of public health, safety and welfare.
The Bureau of Neighborhood Revitalization is entrusted with the responsibility of enforcing the International Virginia Maintenance Code and related City ordinances. The code and ordinances are in place to protect the health and safety of Norfolk’s residents.
The major objectives of the Bureau are to ensure:

Clean and sanitary buildings
A suitable environment for the public to live, visit,
work, or conduct business
