Residential Rental Inspection Program

The City of Norfolk is pleased to announce the establishment of a residential rental inspection district program for the purpose of assuring safe, sanitary, and decent living conditions for rental housing occupants within the designated inspection districts. The newly created program will allow regular inspections of residential rental units within the established districts.  The established districts are Denby Park located off of Tidewater Drive; Olde Huntersville located between Tidewater Drive and Church Street; and the Pleasant Avenue corridor of East Ocean View between 7th Bay and 23rd Bay.

The City of Norfolk is requesting property owners who own rental property that falls within one of the above districts to submit the completed Residential Rental Property Form to the Department of Neighborhood Preservation, 400 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23510-1914.  This form is needed to schedule your inspection and assure your residential rental inspection(s) contain accurate information.  In addition, you may view a sample Residential Inspection Checklist to help prepare for your residential rental inspection.  For further information, please call the Department of Neighborhood Preservation at 664-6500 or to fax forms 664-6556.
