To use the Norfolk Alert system all that
is required is a valid email address. You can only register an email address one time in the system.
Individuals need to go to: www.norfolk.gov/norfolkalert to sign up for the service.
Presently there is an icon on the main web page www.norfolk.gov that links directly to this service.
If you do not have an account on the Norfolk Alert system click on the link under the New User? prompt - where it says: Please register here if you do
not have an account. You will be asked to fill in the appropriate information – email address and password.
The next page that comes up is the contact information page for your account. Here you will be prompted to enter your contact information such as telephone number and address. Fill
in as much or as little as you wish. When you are finished click on the Create New Account button and the Norfolk Alert system will email you a confirmation message.
In the email message is a web address link. Click on the link and this will take you into the Norfolk Alert system. You will be presented with a web page that has
three tabs at the top. The three tabs are Home, Edit My Account, and Edit My Alerts.
• Home is a brief explanation of the system.
• Edit My Account gives you the opportunity to change
contact information such as address, phone number, email address, etc, the ability
to change your account password and also the ability to change your contact time – the
times you want to receive information from Norfolk Alert. In addition you have the ability
to remove your account if you so choose.
• Edit My Alerts is where you can select what information you wish to
receive from the City of Norfolk. This is where you can select what you want and how you
desire to receive it. Presently we offer communication to telephone and e-mail.
Thank you for using Norfolk Alert.
* The City of Norfolk’s Web Site provides
