Tidewater child Development Services

Tidewater Child Development Services is a specialty clinic of the Virginia Department of Health. Regional in scope, it serves the areas of Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Franklin, Isle of Wight, and Northampton and Accomack counties.Services are provided to children ages 0-21 and their families with fees based on a sliding fee scale, based on income and the number of family members.


Comprehensive diagnostic evaluations are provided for children with:
  • developmental delay
  • Attention Deficit Disorder (A.D.D.),
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (A.D.H.D.),
  • Learning Disabilities (L.D.)
  • other learning problems
  • difficulties with behavior or emotional issues

Staff members include:

  • Pediatrician
  • Registered Nurse
  • Psychologist
  • Neuropsych
  • ologist
  • Clinical Social Worker
  • 2 educational consultants
  • Executive secretary

Referrals may be made by parents, local health departments, schools, physicians, social services, hospitals, or other agencies.
