Downtown Closures
Brambleton Avenue
This is a reminder that work is
continuing on the Brambleton Avenue Bridge. Through June, as the
median is reconstructed, the median lanes in each direction will be
closed, but the curb lane and the middle lane of both the eastbound
and westbound side of the bridge will be open. The curb lane is the
lane of traffic adjacent to the sidewalk area. This traffic pattern
will be in place for one month.
Beginning Friday, April 25, there
will be intermittent, full, and partial lane closures at the
intersection of East Brambleton Avenue and Church Street. The lane
closures are necessary for Verizon to perform cable repair work from
6 p.m. on Friday, April 25 through mid May.
East Brambleton Avenue
Through June 13, watch for
closure of the inside eastbound lane of East Brambleton Avenue
between Reservoir Avenue and ending before interstate 264 ramp. A
second lane of east bound East Brambleton Avenue will be closed from
6:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. One of two left turn
lanes of southbound Park Avenue will be closed at the intersection
of Park Avenue and East Brambleton Avenue.
Bute Street
Through August 3, watch for
closure of one half block on West Bute Street between Yarmouth
Street and Duke Street due to utility work.
Through July 2009, watch for
closure of West Bute Street next to the Granby Tower construction
site between Granby Street and the property line.
Freemason Street
The remaining portion of the
Monticello Garage will be demolished beginning the morning of
Thursday, May 15, and continuing through the evening of Monday, May
19. Portions of Freemason Street and Monticello Avenue will be
closed. Freemason Street will be closed from the intersection of
Monticello Avenue to the west end of the MacArthur Center Garage.
Access to the garage service entrance (from the intersection of Bank
Street and Freemason Street will remain open. The northbound lanes
of Monticello Avenue between Freemason Street and Charlotte Street
will be closed.
York Street
Through June 6, watch for closure
of the eastbound lane on York Street between Botetourt Street and
the dead end of the roadway.
Through June 6, watch for closure
of the eastbound lane on York Street between Dunmore Street and
Yarmouth Street.
New Road Closures
21st Street
Through August 1, watch for
alternating eastbound and westbound lane closures on 21st Street
between Monticello Avenue and Granby Street.
49th Street
Through July 1, watch for closure
of the eastbound lane on 49th Street between Bluestone Avenue and
Hampton Boulevard.
Atlantic Street
Through May 18, watch for closure
of half of the block on Atlantic Street between Plume Street and
Main Street.
Boissevain Avenue
Through May 18, watch for street
closure to through traffic on Boissevain Avenue.
Chesapeake Boulevard
Through June 7, watch for
alternating southbound lane closures on Chesapeake Boulevard between
Kittrell Street and Norview Avenue due to road repair.
East Berkley Avenue
Through June 13, watch for
alternating westbound lane closures on East Berkley Avenue at South
Main Street due to utility work.
East Indian River Road
Through June 20, watch for
closure of the westbound lane on East Indian River Road between the
railroad tracks and culvert in the 400 block due to utility work.

of the southbound lane on Glenrock Road between Poplar Hall Drive

Hampton Boulevard
On Saturday, May 17, from 7:00
a.m. until 5:00 p.m., the southbound lanes on Hampton Boulevard

closure of the westbound lane on Park Avenue between Holt Street and
East Main Street.
Warren Street
Through June 1, watch for closure
of the southbound lane of Newport Avenue between Warren Street and

closure of West 35th Street from one block west of Killam Avenue to
Colley Avenue due to utility work.

Admiral Taussig Boulevard

The westbound left turn lane and the eastbound right turn lane on

Barnhollow Road
Through August 3, watch for
street closure on Barnhollow Road from Poplar Hall Drive to Duck
Pond Lane due to utility work.
Barre Street
Through December 8, watch for
closure of Barre Street to through traffic from Galt Street to C
Avenue. A lane of traffic will remain open at all times for city
emergency and resident access.
Bluestone Avenue
Through February 2009, watch for
street closure on Bluestone Avenue between Melrose Parkway and
W..49th Street.
Brambleton Avenue
Beginning Monday, April 21, the
two westbound curb lanes on Brambleton Avenue heading toward the
Campostella area will be closed, starting at Marshall Avenue and
continuing just past Park Avenue. In addition, one left turn at the
corner of Park Avenue and Brambleton Avenue will be closed during
that time. Crews will work from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily to
install a new water line and relocate additional utilities for the
upcoming light rail construction. One lane will remain closed
overnight.
Brown Avenue
Through May 30, watch for closure
of Brown Avenue between Reservoir Avenue and Park Avenue.
Burleigh Avenue
Through May 31, watch for closure
of Burleigh Avenue between Newport Avenue and Cedar Level Avenue due
to utility work.

lane in each direction. This pattern will last 12 weeks.
Through May 24, watch for
alternating southbound lane closures on Tidewater Drive between
Olney Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard due to roadway work.
Through November 1, one lane of
traffic will be open on Tidewater Drive between Webster Avenue and
Lindenwood Avenue for the Seeleys Bridge replacement project.
Detours will be put in place.
Vimy Ridge Avenue
Through February 2009, watch for
street closure to through traffic on Vimy Ridge Avenue between
Fearer Avenue and Shoop Avenue due to utility work.
Warren Crescent
Through July 18, watch for street
closure to through traffic on Warren Crescent from Pembroke Avenue

West Belvedere Road

closure of the westbound lane on West Belvedere Road at the
