City of Norfolk Retired Employees Association

The Retired Employees Association provides a mechanism for retirees joining together as one voice to further common goals and objectives and to enhance the quality of life for its members and their families. The Association operates as an independent, non-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian organization.

Group Objectives

The objectives of the City of Norfolk Retired Employees Association are:

  • To promote and actively support a program designed to improve benefits for all retired employees from the City of Norfolk and their surviving spouses and beneficiaries
  • To present informational programs designed to benefit the membership and to build good relationships, support and cooperation between this Association and the Norfolk City Government

Meeting Times

Association meetings are held the last Friday of each month at 10:30 a.m. at the Titus Town Recreation Center, 7545 Diven Street, Norfolk.  Adjustments may be made to this schedule for the November and December meetings because of the holidays.

Retiree Meetings

Why you should attend
Meetings provide an opportunity for discussion and action on issues/concerns of retired employees.

What can you expect?
In addition to the regular business of the Association, most monthly meetings feature a guest speaker providing information of interest to seniors.  Topics have included:  retiree benefits; health issues; investments, insurance, estate planning; employment; volunteering; travel; local history; City government; and more.

Upcoming meetings:

August 29 - Goldman & Associates in association with the City of Norfolk will give a presentation on plans for Bon Secours De Paul Hospital.

September 26 - Officer Sandy Parker of the Norfolk Police Crime Prevention Unit will give a presentation on "senior safety."

Medicare Carve Out Comparison

As a follow up from Tom Luckman's presentation to the Association in June on retirement benefits, he has provided a comparison chart for Optima Health Medicare Carve out (HMO1000) and Optima Medicare Preferred (Individual PPO Plan).
