Our Mission
We are the chief tax assessor, both individual and commercial, for the City of Norfolk.
We provide superior service and quality in the:
- Assessment of individual and business personal property;
- Issuance and renewal of business licenses;
- Administration of all fiduciary taxes;
- Evaluation of customer compliance;
- Assistance and processing of Virginia State Income Taxes;
- Investigation of inquiries and delinquent accounts; and
- Assistance with Real Estate Tax Relief.
We provide these services for the Citizens of Norfolk and to aid in the continued
growth of our community.
Privacy Policy
To protect your privacy, we will answer specific questions about your account by
regular mail or telephone. Please include your mailing address and telephone number
with any questions about your account. While we can respond to general tax questions
(when to file, where to file, which form to file, etc.) by E-mail, state and federal
laws require us to keep account information from our records confidential.
Because of the confidentiality requirements, we cannot respond to your questions
about someone else's account unless that person has given us written permission
to release the information to you. As with inquiries on your own account, we will
answer authorized questions about another person's account by regular mail or telephone.
