History

Forest Lawn Cemetery was established in 1906 when the City of Norfolk purchased the 165 acre Bunting Farm. Over 100,000 burials and one hundred plus years later, the City of Norfolk and the dedicated employees of the Bureau of Cemeteries continue to supply the citizens of Norfolk and the whole Hampton Roads area with the highest level of care and assistance in meeting funeral needs. We continually seek out and implement new techniques for a maintenance program that is second to none. Forest Lawn’s staff provides quality funeral service and grounds maintenance. The planting of trees and shrubs are also provided to enhance the beauty of the cemetery. Assisting the public in researching family history and finding lot locations are services provided on a daily basis.
