The Safety City staff strives to eliminate child-fatalities and injuries through education and training and to provide the foundation for a safety-conscious adult community.
Staff works to develop new programs and improve existing programs that promote traffic safety. We are additionally committed to ensuring that children experience positive interaction with Law Enforcement officials at an early age.
Norfolk Citizens, from both the private and public sector, who were concerned about children’s safety, opened Safety City in 1970.
Re-established in 2003 and located on the grounds of the Norfolk Zoo, Safety City is the ultimate hands-on child traffic safety learning experience.
