PH-1                                                   PUBLIC HEARING scheduled this day pursuant to action of the Council on July 8, 2008, under the State law, public notice having been inserted in the local press by the City Clerk to hear comments on the conveyance of an easement to Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) over City property off Powhatan Avenue between 43rd and 44th Streets.

 

PH-2                                                   PUBLIC HEARING scheduled this day pursuant to action of the Council on July 8, 2008, under the State law, public notice having been inserted in the local press by the City Clerk on the application of Janis Forcier to close, vacate and discontinue a portion of Radial Street.

R-1                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance to accept the donation by the Virginia Zoological Society to the City of a train system for the Virginia Zoo having a value of $990, 000,” will be introduced in writing and read by its title.

 

R-2                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance accepting a grant in the amount of $960,457.00 from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services for the Norfolk Criminal Justice Services Agency, Pretrial Services and Local Offender Treatment and Supervision (LOTS) Division, appropriating the funds, authorizing expenditure of $155,100.00 in local funds and authorizing the continued employment of twenty-two (22) persons and providing funds for their salaries and benefits,” will be introduced in writing and read by its title.

 

R-3                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance authorizing the City as administrative and fiscal agent for the Norfolk Transitional Grant Area (TGA) under Title I of the Ryan White Comprehensive Aids Resources Emergency (CARE) Act to Accept Minority Aids Initiative Programs grant funds in the amount of $379,699.00 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for HIV/AIDS Health and Support Services and appropriating and authorizing expenditure of the grants funds,” will be introduced in writing and read by its title.

 

R-4                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance to amend and reordain Section 25-660 of the Norfolk City Code, 1979, SO AS TO add one automatic traffic signal,” will be introduced in writing and read by its title.

 

R-5                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance approving an Agreement with the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Transportation, for the construction, operation and maintenance of that  certain project known as Tidewater Drive and Webster Avenue, increasing the sum previously appropriated for said project by two hundred thirty five thousand dollars to five hundred thirty five thousand dollars, and authorizing the expenditure of said sum, if and when made available by the Commonwealth of Virginia,” will be introduced in writing and read by its title.

 

 

 

 

R-6                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance approving an Agreement with the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Transportation, for the development and administration of the Citywide Signal Retiming Project, and appropriating and authorizing the expenditure of $300,000 from the Virginia Department of Transportation Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Program funds, if and when made available by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Transportation, for the preliminary engineering and construction of the Citywide Signal Retiming Project,” will be introduced in writing and read by its title.

 

R-7                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance to amend and reordain Sections 17.1-19, 17.1-26, 17.1-28 and 17.1-43 SO AS TO comply with changes in state law and to add one new subsection to Section 17.1-44 relating to underground storage tanks SO AS TO require filling or removal or abandoned underground storage tanks,” will be introduced in writing and read by its title.

 

R-8                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance approving a Line Relocation Agreement with Virginia Electric and Power Company, doing business as Dominion Virginia Power for the relocation of facilities from the former Norfolk Southern Railway right of way to the Mississippi Avenue right of way,” will be introduced in writing and read by its title.

 

R-9                                 Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance amending and reordaining the Fiscal Year 2009 General Compensation Plan SO AS TO add and delete titles within the Department of Law,” will be introduced in writing and read by its title.

 

R-10                               Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance accepting a grant award of up to $280,587.00 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), up to $72,620.00 from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management; and up to $18,155.00 in local cash match from various sources, to provide funds to elevate two flood-prone private properties and one private electrical distribution box, and appropriating and authorizing expenditure of said fund,” will be introduced in writing and read by its title.

 

 

 

 

R-11                               Letter from the City Manager and an Ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance permitting the United States of America to encroach into the right of way of Front Street at 803 Front Street with an extended security fence, a gate across Front Street, A guardhouse, and street improvements for transportation, security and parking purposes,” will be introduced in writing and read by its title.
