INVITATION TO PRE-QUALIFY TO BID  

Project: 37th Street Water Treatment Plant – Phase 2 Upgrades

General Contractors are invited to submit an Application and Statement of Qualifications to Bid on the 37 th Street Water Treatment Plant – Phase 2 Upgrades.

In order to be considered for qualification, the Applicant must meet the requirements outlined herein and be licensed in Virginia as required by, Title 54.1, Subtitle II, Chapter 11, Code of Virginia and possess experience comparable to the size and complexity of the project. Only those General Contractors who submit a complete application and statement of qualifications to bid and are prequalified for bidding may submit a bid.

The project is located at the 37 th Street Water Treatment Plant, 3719 Parker Avenue, Norfolk, VA, and includes the following key components:

  • Replacement of the existing solids collection system
  • Installation of an additional backup electrical generator
  • Construction of a surge control system for the raw water pipelines
  • Construction of new ferric sulfate chemical bulk storage and feed facilities
  • Replacement of existing gas driven pump prime mover with new electrical motor
  • Miscellaneous structural and architectural repairs/rehabilitation to existing facilities
  • Miscellaneous instrumentation and control system upgrades
  • Miscellaneous site civil and yard piping improvements

Application and Statement of Qualifications to Bid documents for the above work may be obtained from the Department of Utilities, City of Norfolk, 400 Granby Street, 2 nd Floor, Norfolk, Virginia 23510, Attention: Tonia Woodley, Tel: (757) 664-6767.

Any questions or comments concerning the provisions of the Application and Statement of Qualifications to Bid must be submitted in writing to Curt Hauger, Civil Engineer, no later than seven (7) days prior to the date for submission of applications.

Contractor’s Applications and Statement of Qualifications to Bid Forms will be accepted until 3:00 p.m., local time, Tuesday, November 24, 2009, in the office of the Department of Utilities, 400 Granby Street, 2nd floor, Norfolk, Virginia 23510.
