The Department of Utilities Product
Review Committee is providing guidelines for submittals and review
processes.
Below is the Presenters' Information Sheet, which provides detailed instructions for submittal of requests for review.
Firms, manufacturers or manufacturer's
representatives desiring to have products reviewed and considered
for use within the City of Norfolk, Department of Utilities shall
submit one (1) product catalog and seven (7) copies of their product
specification information sheet.
Requests will be accepted at the
Department of Utilities, Engineering Bureau, 400 Granby Street, 2nd
Floor, Norfolk, Virginia, 23510.

Presenters' Information Sheet
The City of Norfolk, Department of
Utilities will review products relative to the operation and
maintenance of the water distribution, water treatment and sanitary
sewer systems.
Requests to present should be submitted
in writing to Mr. David Speer, PE, Civil Engineer IV, Department
of Utilities, 400 Granby Street, 2nd Floor, Norfolk, Virginia,
23510.
Firms, manufacturers or manufacturer's
representatives desiring to have products reviewed and considered
for use within the City of Norfolk, Department of Utilities shall
submit one (1) product catalog and seven (7) copies of their product
specification information sheet and the requested information below.
Requests shall include statements of
interest, experience, and qualifications. All qualified firms,
manufacturers or manufacturer's representatives are invited to
present their product. The completed request letter shall not
contain more then seven (7) pages. Printing on both sides of a sheet
counts as two pages, but is acceptable, and if tabs or dividers have
text (other than the label), they count as a page.
Specific items to be addressed are
listed below:
Section I: Firm Experience Record
A. The number
of years in business and descriptions of areas of general and
specific expertise.
B. A list of
similar completed projects using your product, maximum of five (5),
providing for each:
1. Location and description of product use.
2. References and contact information.
a) Name, Municipality/Company, title, phone #, date of installation,
specific use, etc.
3. Project team involved with specific responsibilities.
Section II: Product Information
A. Name of
Product and specific function
B. What issue
is it designed to handle
C. Length of
time product has been in use and under what conditions
Section III: Product Representatives
A.
Representative's assignments and responsibilities
B.
Representative's contact information
C. A list of
secondary representatives, if any, with similar detailed information
listed above.
Section IV: Field Testing, Product
Training and Maintenance Approach
A. A detailed
narrative statement on your standard maintenance program
requirements and any unique features, which you believe makes your
product the most desirable.
B. A work plan
that addresses the ability to furnish equipment and services for
multiple projects simultaneously.
C. A
description of the introduction and training program for your
product, if needed.
D. Provide a
sample of product for field testing, if applicable.
Individual presentations will be
scheduled if further information is required. A panel of
departmental personnel will participate on the panel.
