Fish Found in Norfolk's Reservoirs

Norfolk's lakes are stocked by the Department of Game and Inland Fish.  Lakes Prince and Western Branch are stocked annually with Striped Bass (Chesapeake Bay strain).  Muskie and Walleye were stocked in Western Branch for several years but stocking was discontinued due to poor survival and low angler harvest.  No fish are stocked in Burnt Mills.  The Intown Lakes are stocked annually with Walleye (non-native to this area) to provide this highly prized sport fish to anglers and to help control the abundant forage fish populations in the lakes.  Native or naturalized fishes (largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie) are not stocked since they can reproduce successfully.
