Mental health professionals provide speakers, in-service trainings, education, presentations, and outreach to the community at large on issues pertaining to mental health, substance abuse, violence, parenting skills, social skills, and other pertinent topics.
Community Liaisons take an active role in educating the residents of the City of Norfolk about issues related to substance abuse, violence and mental health. They educate the community on a variety of topics which promote healthy lifestyles.
Topics can include, but are not limited to, substance abuse, depression, achieving your goals, coping skills, grief, conflict resolution, depression, suicide, and bullying. Presentations can be created based on request and are tailored to meet the needs of the targeted population. Information dissemination events such as health fairs are also conducted by the Community Liaisons. There are also several established partnerships within the community, where we provide prevention presentations on an on-going basis.
