The Adopt-A-Spot program is the City of Norfolk’s volunteer litter cleanup program, aiming to empower Norfolk residents to take ownership of their community by conducting quarterly cleanups of their adopted location. Keep Norfolk Beautiful manages this program with the support of the Division of Waste Management.

New Cleanup Supply Pickup Location

In addition to pickup at Keep Norfolk Beautiful's office, cleaning supplies including grabbers, gloves, green buckets, and waste bags are available at Mary D. Pretlow Anchor Branch Library for Adopt-A-Spot and Community Cleanup volunteers. Just visit the lending desk during library operating hours.
Registration for either program is required.
How the program works
- Register for Adopt-A-Spot.
- Complete our online Adopt-A-Spot training.
- Commit to maintain your spot for a minimum of two years.
- Schedule your supply pick-up. **Appointments are required.**
- Conduct your cleanup event.
- Leave trash bags in City Right of Way for collection and call 757-441-1347 or e-mail knb@norfolk.gov with location.
- Submit sign-in sheet and report from after each cleanup.
- Continue to clean your spot/street at least four times a year (once every three months).
