Responsibilities & Services
The goal and mission of Norfolk Fire-Rescue's Training Division is to provide quality training and certification programs for recruit and incumbent employees. A team of professional and dedicated staff strive to offer the highest level of training to prepare our department to meet any challenges that it may encounter.
Responsibilities
The Training Division oversees multiple areas of responsibilities such as fire recruit academies, a National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate (NREMT-I) certification program, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Emergency Pre-hospital Professional (PEPP), and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications. Additionally, the Training Division develops department wide training for our sworn staff of 495 members.
Video Production
Norfolk Fire-Rescue Training also houses its own video production studio to film a host of training segments to further our knowledge, and support the Department's mission. Through the use of a Learning Management System, a host of additional training classes are delivered to our members to further their understanding of critical topics. The most recent enhancement in the Training Division has been the development of simulation based training in both the Fireground and Emergency Medical disciplines. The simulated experiences for our members help further prepare them for a multitude of incidents.
