Summer Beach and Pool Schedule

Beach guards are on duty at Community Beach Park. Sarah Constant Beach Park and Ocean View Beach Park will not have beach guards on duty. Patrons will swim at their own risk. Lifeguards will be on duty July 4, 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Community Beach Park only.

  • Ocean View Beach Park (100 W. Ocean View Avenue)

Indoor pool operations will remain the same. Indoor pools are closed 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. for cleaning.

  • Southside Aquatics Center Pool: Tuesday & Saturday (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
  • Huntersville Pool: Wednesday & Friday (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
  • Northside Pool: Monday & Thursday (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.)

Boxing is Back!

The Team Norfolk Boxing Program has a new temporary location! Stop by the Park Place Multi-Services Center, 606 W. 29th St., for boxing training and more! 

Program Hours:

Monday – Friday, 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Beginning boxing classes are at 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and Team Norfolk Boxing practice is at 6 p.m., Monday – Friday. Future programming will include warrior fitness, low impact cardio classes, therapeutic recreation classes and more. 

Dream Court Ribbon Cutting - June 27

The City of Norfolk, in partnership with Nancy Lieberman Charities and the Southside Boys and Girls Club, announces the ribbon cutting for a Dream Court™ in Berkley Park (706 Walker Ave.) on Monday, June 27, at 10:30 a.m. 

An existing city basketball court is now transformed into a Dream Court™, through the generous donations of Wallace and Linda Hailsip, Old Dominion University alumni.

Ballentine Park Ribbon Cutting - July 14 (New Date)

We are excited to announce the following ribbon cutting hosted by Councilwoman Mamie B. Johnson.

July 14: Ballentine Park Playground & Fitness Area, 2415 Ballentine Boulevard, 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Enhanced Norfolk Fitness & Wellness Center

Parks & Recreation and Norfolk Public Library recently hosted virtual and in-person public input meetings for an enhanced Norfolk Fitness & Wellness Center with a library component. Check out the survey findings and meeting presentation. The March 24 in-person public meeting can be viewed here.

Tarrallton Recreation Center: Fridays 12:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.; Mondays-Thursdays 2:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.

*These facilities are also open on select days for the after school program, 2:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
