Duffy's Lane HRT Transfer Station Relocation

Project Information

This project adds a Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) bus pull out near the intersection of W. Ocean View Avenue and Duffy’s Lane in West Ocean View. It will serve as a higher visibility replacement for the existing HRT Transfer Station on Duffy’s Lane. In addition to the relocation of the transfer station, this project will also include concrete pavement, wide sidewalks, accommodations for bus shelters, storm drainage upgrades (if needed), and improved lighting and landscaping.

Project Benefits

This project will provide better visibility for the HRT transfer station along Duffy’s Lane by relocating the existing transfer center to 111 West Ocean View Ave in front of Pretlow Library. Improvements will include bus shelters, lighting, and landscaping for enhanced safety.

Public Outreach

The public engagement period is intended to be an opportunity for the Ocean View community to provide input on the proposed design plan for the new HRT transfer station. The project team is willing to attend local civic league and task force meetings during project development to discuss the proposed designs and to update the community on the status of the project. The public outreach schedule is still to be determined.
