  2. MacArthur Memorial 3rd Annual Military History Film Festival

    August 9, 7:00 PM - October 31, 9:00 PM @ The MacArthur Memorial Visitors Center

    The MacArthur Memorial is hosting its third annual Military History Film Festival August – October 2018. To commemorate the World War I Centennial, the 2018 films will focus on the courage and sacrifice of American troops in World War I. The film festival will kick off on August 9, 2018. In partnership with the Military Aviation Museum of Virginia Beach, the MacArthur Memorial will screen The Millionaires' Unit (2015) (120 mins).The festival will continue with screenings of The Fighting 69th (1940) on September 13, 2018 and Sergeant York (1941) on October 4, 2018. All screenings will take place in the MacArthur Memorial Visitors Center Theatre at 7:00 PM. Admission is FREE but registration is requested.     October 13, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM @ Dominion Tower Parking Garage

    You are invited to the second Let's Walk Event! The meeting place will be at Dominion Tower Parking Garage, which is the starting point of the Elizabeth River Trail! There we will hammer out the what I call the ABCs of this event. A. Everyone is asked to bring at least two people including themselves. Children are welcomed, but must be accompanied by a guardian. B. Once you've arrived, you will be encouraged to ditch your family and friends, partnering with someone you don't know. C. Pick someone who looks like they will move at your speed, something we will determine.

    Help turn a muddy median into a public sculpture garden. The sculptures and hardscaping are in, now it is time to plant the plants that will transform the median next to the Attucks Theatre into a walkable, beautiful site for all to enjoy. Parking in the lot next to the theatre. Restrooms available inside the theatre. We will have shovels, rakes, trowels, gloves, and trash bags. Bring a water bottle, wear closed toe shoes, and be prepared to get dirty.

  6. Home Horticulture Education: Lawn and Garden Basics for the Successful Grower

    Virginia Cooperative Extension, the Norfolk Master Gardeners and Eggleston Garden Center are proud to bring you Home Horticulture Education, a five part crash course in the fundamentals of home lawn and garden care for the budding gardener. This class is designed as an abbreviated alternative to Master Gardener training, tailored to those who are interested in learning the basics of the curriculum but cannot commit to the requirements of full Master Gardener training. Each class will run from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM and will include coffee and light snacks. This series will be exclusively a classroom event, and will not include hands-on exercises in these topics.
